The last of my 2021 favourites - cleansers and mis The last of my 2021 favourites - cleansers and mists! I usually do a double cleanse and then mist straight out of the shower. These are the ones that stood out to me this year: ⭐️ @goodlight.world Cosmic Dew Water Cleanser (US$18, 100ml): this really grew on me as I used it more. Probably the just gentle foaming cleanser I’ve tried. Doesn’t strip skin but lathers up to create tons of foam for a nice cleansing experience! ⭐️ @thenimetyou Living Cleansing Balm (US$38, 90g): my second jar of this. Such a luxurious cleansing experience. It has a sorbet-like texture in the jar that turns buttery and melts effortlessly into an oil. Smells so good if you love citrusy scents. ⭐️ @kose_official Softymo Speedy Oil Cleanser (~C$5-10, 230ml): super affordable and lightweight cleansing oil. I like using this oil to massage my face while I’m cleansing to help remove some “grits” from my pores. Emulsifies easily and rinses off cleanly. Can’t ask for much more! ⭐️ @acwell_global Licorice pH Balancing Essence Mist (US$24, 100ml): a super-fine mist that does an amazing job at delivering hydration. It contains some oils which helps with longer lasting moisture as well. The spray nozzle is one of the finest I’ve used, similar to the YTTP mist. Works well as a toner/essence on its own or over makeup mid-day. ⭐️ @youthtothepeople Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist (C$55/US$42, 118ml): great at relieving dehydration and at soothing skin. I also loved the fine spray nozzle. Used this mini up so quickly! ⭐️ @deciem NIOD Superoxide Dismutase Saccharide Mist (C/US$50, 240ml): very hydrating and great to use out of the shower. The nozzle isn’t fine on this one - it sprays quite a bit at a time and leaves your face drenched. Wouldn’t recommend it over makeup but it’s actually great if you’re using it like a toner! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these!
This is a catch-all category for products I’ve u This is a catch-all category for products I’ve used to target specific concerns: ⭐️ @stratiaskin Soft Touch AHA* (US$16, 50ml): a great exfoliant for those with more sensitive/reactive skin. It’s helps smooth skin and gives a nice glow the next day. It contains 10% mandelic acid, has a gel texture, and a faint almond scent. My skin can’t tolerate strong exfoliants so this one works well for me! ⭐️ @paulaschoice 10% Azelaic Acid Booster (US$36, 30ml): sooo good if you deal with hyperpigmentation from breakouts. I mainly get PIH so applying this early on when pigmentation is forming as well as afterwards helps it go away much faster. The difference is personally noticeable in a day or two. As you can see, I liked it so much I cut the bottle to get the last little bits! ⭐️ @eauthermaleaveneca A-Oxitive Smoothing Eye Contour Cream (C$42.50, 15ml): this eye cream has ~0.015% retinal and with consistent use, I’ve noticed an improvement in firmness and fine lines. It’s quite gentle and I didn’t notice any irritation despite containing retinal. The texture is lightweight and easily spreadable. For more moisture, seal it in with something more occlusive. In the US, I believe the similar product is being marketed as RetrinAL Eyes. Have you tried any of these products? *gifted without obligation to post
Here are my favourite moisturizers I’ve used in Here are my favourite moisturizers I’ve used in the past year: ⭐️ @klairs.global Midnight Blue Calming Cream (US$31, 60ml): I like using this when my skin gets irritated as it really helps to soothe skin. It’s only moderately moisturizing on its own so I mix 1 part of this cream to 1 part of a richer cream (I’ve been using the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream) recently. This is my SO’s HG so I’ve repurchased this a couple times! ⭐️ @purito_official Centella Green Level Recovery Cream (US$15-20, 50ml): effective at healing and a delight for combo skin. It’s hard to find a perfect moisturizer when half my face is oily and the other half leans dry - this one fits the bill and is the second tube I’ve used. Reduces redness and inflammation quickly - sometimes I put extra of this on inflamed pimples like a spot treatment overnight. ⭐️ @stratiaskin Night Shift (US$28, 50ml): feels and moisturizer like a classic cream and has 0.15% encapsulated retinol. Highly recommend this if you’re a beginner to retinoids. Also great if you want a gentle but effective retinol that doesn’t come with dryness! ⭐️ @stratiaskin Liquid Gold (US$27, 60ml): if you have dehydration-prone skin, this is especially for you. Can be used as a lightweight moisturizer or a creamy serum. These days I like using it as a serum underneath a heavier moisturizer. Helps to keep your moisture barrier happy - it almost feels like you’re filling in any cracks in your skin when you apply this. I’ve been using this for years and have gone through many bottles! These are all pretty popular products that didn’t disappoint for me - let me know if you’ve tried these! Credit again to @goalstogetglowing and @devsday for hosting #2021skincarestandouts. These are my favourite serums I’ve used in the past year: ⭐️ @goodlight.world We Come In Peace Probiotic Serum (US$24, 30ml): this is a hydrating serum designed to strengthen your skin barrier. I love the milky/creamy gel texture. It felt soothing the first time I used it when my skin was irritated and now I treat it as a moderately hydrating/moisturizing serum. ⭐️ @larocheposay Hyalu B5 Serum (C$50/US$30, 30ml): there are a few things I don’t like about this serum but it still made it to the list because it really delivers on hydrating, moisturizing, plumping, and soothing your skin. The performance is excellent if you can get past the stronger fragrance and tacky finish. ⭐️ @ubeauty Resurfacing Compound (US$148, 30ml): helps to brighten, even out skin tone, reduce and heal breakouts faster. I suggest using this more as a serum because it personally doesn’t offer any hydration. One of the priciest products I’ve tried but I saw results! ⭐️ @deciem NIOD Survival 0 (C/US$25, 30ml): a good option if you want your antioxidants and don’t like vitamin C. Personally there are no real visible results using this but you are comforted knowing it’s packed with antioxidants! I like it even if it’s just for the hydration/moisture it delivers. It’s also relatively affordable. ⭐️ @deciem NIOD Modulating Glucosides (C$29/US$28, 30ml): a life saver if your skin barrier is damaged. I can see an improvement in the “strength” of my skin overnight. It’s quite moisturizing on its own. Don’t really need to use this consistently but it’s nice to have handy. Honorary mention for the one I’ve been enjoying lately but haven’t used enough yet: ⭐️ @votarylondon Brightening Hyaluronic Serum (US$118/GBP75, 50ml): I got this as part of my @theboxwalla subscription. The scent is divine (floral but fresh!) which makes the whole experience very enjoyable. I like the watery gel texture too. Gives you hydrated and glowier skin the next day. It’s pricey on its own but that’s why I got my Boxwalla subscription!
