The U Beauty Resurfacing Compound claims to brighten, resurface, renew, and tighten skin – all in one product. It is designed to replace all steps of your skincare routine except your moisturizer.
U Beauty is a relatively new luxury beauty brand founded by Tina Craig (@bagsnob). It’s difficult to describe who Tina is because she seems to do so many things! She started her blog Bag Snob ages ago but is also well-versed in all things beauty.
U Beauty products use proprietary patent-pending technology called “SIREN Capsules”. According to the brand, SIREN Capsules are molecules containing combinations of actives. Its molecular structure send it to where free radicals accumulate, neutralizes them, and unloads its key ingredients to the skin.
I purchased the 30ml size of the Resurfacing Compound last year because of its great reviews and extensive claims. Most of all, I was intrigued that it could replace most of my skincare products. Despite its luxury price point, I reasoned that it would be economically worth it if it pared down the number of skincare products I use. This review is written after I finished the entire bottle of product that I purchased.
My Overall Experience
9/10. One can rightfully be skeptical of influencer-launched, celebrity-endorsed brands but the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound doesn’t disappoint. My skin was brighter, more even-toned, and it reduced occurrences of acne. Any breakouts also seemed to heal faster when using this product! I found that it did deliver on all of its claims with a few exceptions.
I don’t think the Resurfacing Compound can replace most of your skincare products if your skin is dehydrated or on the drier side. I strictly only used a moisturizer along with the Resurfacing Compound during the time I was using the product. The Resurfacing Compound is not very moisturizing on its own and most of my moisturizers could not compensate for this.
As a result, the lack of hydration sometimes led to small closed comedones and patches of dry skin. Perhaps pairing it with the right moisturizer is the answer? U Beauty has since launched their own moisturizer that I have not purchased or tested yet.
The 30ml version is supposed to last about a month. It actually lasted a couple months of nightly use for me so this was a pleasant surprise!
Where To Buy

Note: I purchased my directly from U Beauty’s online store. At the time of writing, Canadians purchasing from the U Beauty online store are subject to taxes and duties when the package arrives in Canada.
Key Ingredients
The Resurfacing Compound advertises to have a host of great ingredients:
- Antioxidants – helps to neutralize free radicals that stress our skin. The product includes superoxide dismutase, an antioxidant enzyme produced naturally by our bodies.
- Stabilized Vitamin C – brightens, improves skin tone, and reduces fine lines (amongst many other benefits!).
- Stabilized Vitamin E – helps with hydration and fight free radicals. A great partner to vitamin C.
- Peptides – helps to build collagen and elastin, improving skin firmness.
- Stable Retinol – improves fine lines, wrinkles, and renews cells. The product uses Retinyl Palmitate, which should yield gentler and less sensitizing results than most retinoids.
- Hyaluronic Acids – boosts hydration.
- AHAs – helps to gently exfoliate the skin. The product includes glycolic and mandelic acids. It also includes lactobionic acid, which is actually a PHA. U Beauty does not explicitly disclose the concentration of AHAs/PHAs in the Resurfacing Compound.
Texture and Scent
The Resurfacing Compound feels like a serum. It has a lightweight and slippery consistency that is easily spreadable. The scent is pleasant and slightly floral.
How I Use It
U Beauty recommends using the Resurfacing Compound in the AM and PM for the first 1-2 weeks of using the product. Thereafter, you can switch to using it in your PM routine only.
After using the Resurfacing Compound, follow up with a moisturizer of your choice. U Beauty has since also launched a moisturizer to pair with the Resurfacing Compound.
Packaging
The product comes in a sturdy, rectangular-shaped, pump bottle made out of recycled plastic. It uses an airless pump, which is great for keeping the product’s integrity and freshness.
Tip: when you can no longer dispense any more product from the pump, pull the pump head off from the base of the bottle. Use a Q-tip to get every last bit of product out!
