Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum Review

Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum

Goodal’s Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum is a popular vitamin C derivative serum in Korea. This serum is particularly popular for its effective and gentle formula and claims it can improve skin brightness in just two weeks.

I have to admit I have a “cautious” relationship with vitamin C – I have been looking to use more vitamin C products to battle against hyperpigmentation but I am also very afraid of strong vitamin C products as I’ve had a few reactive experiences. I received this serum as a gift with purchase and was excited to give it a try given its non-irritating formula!

My Overall Experience

7.5/10. This is gentle serum great for those who are easily sensitized by vitamin C like me. I used this serum mainly in the AM and noticed some brightening effects (nothing major though) and more even skin tone. It’s not particularly hydrating on its own so if you have drier skin or are prone to dehydration, you’ll likely need to follow up with a more hydrating serum or moisturizer.

Unfortunately the serum didn’t help with my stubborn sun spots but I didn’t have high hopes for this since I haven’t had much luck with most products on my sun spots anyways. As always, YMMV.

Overall, given the relatively inexpensive price of this serum versus other vitamin C serums, it’s worth a shot if you have sensitive skin. I will still be on the hunt for a more effective vitamin C serum for my skin though!

Where To Buy

The Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum retails for roughly US$20 for 30ml. It is available at a number of online retail outlets:

Key Ingredients

The Goodal notes the following key ingredients in the Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum:

  • 70% Green Tangerine Extract – green tangerine extract is the main source of vitamin C in this serum as the extract contains natural vitamin C derivatives.
  • Niacinamide – an all-around star ingredient. It has anti-inflammatory properties, helps to fade hyperpigmentation, strengthen the skin barrier, regulate skin cell turnover and oil production, and even the skin tone.
  • Arbutin – antioxidant effective for brightening uneven skin tone.
  • Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, and Centella Asiatica Extract – madecassoside and asiaticoside are two of the compounds found in centella asiatica extract. These ingredients are best known for the healing and soothing properties.

Texture and Scent

The Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum is rather lightweight and has a gel texture. It spreads easily and absorbs quickly. Many other reviewers note a tacky finish – I personally didn’t notice much tackiness and it didn’t really come to mind. Any little tackiness disappears after applying moisturizer.

The serum has a natural, light citrus scent to it from the green tangerine extract used in the formula.

How I Use It

The Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum is gentle enough to use twice a day in the AM and PM. I personally used this serum mainly in the AM as it wasn’t hydrating enough on its own to make its way in my PM routine. I applied this serum after toners and essences and before my moisturizer.

Packaging

The serum comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser. I’m a fan of pump dispensers for their ease of use and hygienic reasons. This pump dispenser dispenses smoothly and easily!
