Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Review

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream

The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a moisturizer formulated to help calm and cool sensitive skin. Klairs is a Korean skincare brand focused on simple and functional skincare gentle enough for sensitive skin. The brand is owned by Wishtrend, a popular k-beauty online store.

At the time of writing this review, I have finished the 30ml jar and have already started using the 60ml tube version!

My Overall Experience

9/10. This is a great go-to moisturizer when your skin is irritated or sensitized. I reach for this product a lot whenever I accidentally overexfoliate or my skin is too sensitized to use retinoids. It is really great at instantly calming down redness from irritation or stress. As a bonus, the naturally blue color of the cream is visually calms me down as well!

While this cream is great at calming down irritated or sensitized skin, it doesn’t do as great of a job with calming down active breakouts. I would not recommend this product specifically if you are looking to help calm down angry pimples, reduce inflammation or redness related to acne. I was initially disappointed at the results because I expected it to heal my active acne – I then realized that the cream just does a much better job at calming rather than healing! (Note: I recommend the Purito Centella Green Level Recovery Cream if your goal is to soothe and heal active acne.)

When the cream is applied, it feels like there is a nice, calming protective “seal” or “coat” on my skin. Despite the cream’s surprisingly thicker texture, it isn’t actually as moisturizing as it might appear. As such, the cream works great for oily to normal skin types but those with dry-type skin will probably not find it moisturizing enough on its own.

P.S. My significant other has sensitive and oilier skin and loves this cream as a moisturizer.

Where To Buy

The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is available in two sizes: 30ml and 60ml. At the time of writing, the 30ml size retails for US$25 and the 60ml size retails for US$31. The cream is available at a number of online stores including:

Key Ingredients

The Midnight Blue Calming Cream’s key ingredients include:

  • Guaiazulene – skin-calming ingredient extracted from chamomile oil. This ingredient is what gives the product its natural blue color!
  • Centella Asiatica Extract – healing properties that help reduce inflammation and redness.

Texture and Scent

The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream has a thick gel-cream texture. While it only spreads moderately well and takes a bit of time to fully absorb, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It has a slight cooling effect when initially applied. There is no added fragrance and no discernible scent. See it in action in my short video below!

How I Use It

The instructions recommend you to use the Midnight Blue Calming Cream as the last step of your PM skincare routine. The cream is also intended to be applied thickly on targeted areas.

I personally use this cream liberally as my moisturizer for my entire face whenever my skin is irritated or sensitized. I didn’t find it particularly effective as a spot treatment.

Packaging

The 30ml size comes in your typical glass jar for moisturizers. The 60ml version of this cream comes in a lightweight plastic squeeze tube. Having now used both versions of the product, I personally prefer the 60ml version because it is more hygienic, easier to travel with, and you get much more product for the price!
